Murphy's column 19th August was an excellent summary of the pathetically inept train wreck that IS the Martin Labor Government. They have hired at least 2,500 extra public servants since coming to power. At a "conservative" EXTRA ANNUAL cost of around $250 Million, this should be seen by all thinking Territorians as scandal of Whitlamesque proportions. The Martin Labor Government's atrocious record of excessive regulation, massive over-manning and incompetent management seems to be going unnoticed by an increasingly apathetic "southernised" electorate. Clare Martin has allowed our Territory to become a clone of the failed labor states of New South Wales and Victoria.

Professional quantity surveyor with extensive experience in The Australian Public Service with postings in Canberra, Port Moresby, Townsville and Darwin. Joined Northern Territory Public Service at its inception. From 1982 continuously filled the role of CEO and Secretary of a range of Departments and Agencies including Department of Chief Minister and Cabinet, Transport and Works, Port Authority, Power and Water Authority, Primary Industries, Mines and Energy, Industry and Business, Lands and Housing, Parks and Wildlife, Conservation Commission, Chairman, Land Corporation. Retired from the NTPS 1999. Remains a member of the Conservation Land Corporation. Served on all the Ministerial and Advisory Boards associated with the above agencies. Also served on a wide range of development orientated boards including Jabiru Town Development Corporation, Palmerston Development Authority, Darwin Port Precinct Development Committee, Carpentaria Gulf Strategic Development Committee, NT Business Consultative Council, Northern Territory Development Corporation, Trade Development Zone Authority, Northern Territory Tourism Council, Territory Loans Management Corporation and Investnorth. Made a member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his lifetime of service.
